Community Work

Can you help us enable more people to cycle?

At Nottingham Bikeworks, we believe that everybody should have access to a bike – for fitness, for fun, and for the freedom to get around.

We work to provide free bikes to those who need them, to make sure they’re safe while riding, and to fix bikes for free if repairs are unaffordable.

We can only do work like this with support from donors like you – people who are passionate about cycling, who care about the environment, who recognise the many benefits that riding a bike can bring, and who want to help others. Starting from just £5 a month – less than the cost of a new innertube! – you can help to bring the joy of cycling to someone in and around Nottingham. Please donate if you can!

£5/month

• £5 a month will aid our supported volunteering sessions

• We have a small team of people who help us around the workshop

• Your donation will help us to support and train them

£15/month

• £15 a month will help us to fix someone’s bike if they can’t afford it.

Free Fix Thursday runs every week at our Sneinton workshop

• We aim to keep people on their bikes if they can’t afford a full service

£40/month

• £40/month will provide essential safety and security accessories

• We give a D-lock, set of lights, and helmet to project clients

• These accessories help people stay safe and keep their bikes secure

Our Community Projects

Free bikes for asylum seekers and refugees

Over the past 3 years, we have provided roughly 300 free bikes to asylum seekers and refugees living in Nottingham!

It costs Nottingham Bikeworks £150 per refurbished bike to cover new parts, time spent working and safety accessories for the rider. Please consider donating your old bike, or money to help us continue doing this!

Free Fixing Thursdays

For several years now, Nottingham Bikeworks has offered free, or significantly reduced, bike services one day a week. This started in 2021 as Free Fixing Fridays and has since moved to Thursdays, at our Sneinton workshop. Currently this programme is self-funded, so please consider donating to help us continue it!
